Puerto-Rican born Houston Astros legend and Texas Baseball Hall of Famer José Cruz will join Mayor Sylvester Turner as co-marshal for the first Cinco de Mayo parade in Houston since 2019. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when the Mexican Army defeated the French forces led by Napoleon III.The parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, near Minute Maid Park.
The parade will start at the intersection of Texas Street and Hamilton Street and will end at the intersection of Hamilton Street and Franklin Street.Parking for parade volunteers and school buses is free.Who is José Cruz?
