ANAHEIM, Calif. — Hollywood, depending on traffic, is roughly an hour to the north.The second game of the Astros’ series against the Los Angeles Angels will feature a high-wattage pitching matchup, with Astros ace Framber Valdez taking on two-way Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani, widely considered baseball’s biggest global star.
But Valdez said there was no added motivation facing Ohtani, who as a hitter is 4-for-26 with a homer, two RBIs and eight strikeouts against Valdez. “I don’t feel any extra pressure. I’m not the one who has to hit against him or run the bases against him. I just try to focus on what I can control, which is to get their batters out as quickly as possible.”
The Astros have fewer chances to see Ohtani this season, what with the number of intradivisional games reduced in order for each team play all 29 opponents in both leagues.
