Rockets guard Jalen Green, a Fresno native, will get a chance to play a pair of games relatively close to home when Houston plays at Sacramento on Wednesday and Friday.Sacramento is not Fresno. Going “home” to Fresno by way of Sacramento would be like flying to Houston to visit the family in San Antonio.
The Rockets’ games in San Francisco are closer to home, but the Rockets played the Warriors in the second half of a back-to-back this season, as opposed to the extended stay for games Wednesday and Friday against the Kings. That also allowed Green and Rockets coach Stephen Silas to consider Sunday’s game to be an aberration, if with a few lessons.
Those crowds inside led Green to repeatedly try acrobatic, flying shots inside. Impressive displays of his athleticism as they were, low-percentage HORSE shots did not fall and kept him from drawing contact to go to the line.In the past five games, Green has averaged 18.2 points on 31.3 percent shooting. He had averaged 23.8 points on 47.7 percent shooting in the previous five games. He did, however, have a plan to be more efficient.
