More than 10,000 people have signed a petition launched by the website Conservative Post, calling for Boris Johnson to return as PM and replace Liz Truss.

The petition states that the Conservative Party needs its members on side, to deliver leaflets, give donations and knock on doors to speak to the electorate and to support the party. It says: "We the undersigned believe Boris is the only person who can save us from electoral catastrophe at the next General Election and demand he be given the opportunity to see out the manifesto we the people voted for.
Nearly three quarters said they saw the prime minister in an unfavourable light, including more than half who saw her very unfavourably. It means Truss’s net favourability score has fallen by 28 points to -59 in less than a fortnight – in comparison, Boris Johnson’s net favourability was -53 when it dropped to its lowest in early July.
