Lex Luthor actor Jon Cryer pitched a Legion of Doom Arrowverse spinoff.

Jon Cryer, who played Lex Luthor in the Arrowverse, had pitched an iconic DC Comics supervillain team to get a spinoff show. Since 2012, the Arrowverse has been one of the biggest franchises on The CW that has lasted over a decade. Through executive producer Greg Berlanti, the Arrowverse became an interconnected universe focusing on multiple iconic DC Comics superheroes. For several years, the Arrowverse has stood as one of the biggest live-action superhero universes, with annual crossovers.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Crisis on Infinite Earths was the last major crossover event the Arrowverse had prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic. One of the big moments was the official "birth" of the Justice League, which got some attention on social media recently. It turns out that another team was almost getting formed in the franchise. Cryer, who played Lex Luthor on Supergirl, revealed on Twitter that he had actually pitched a Legion of Doom TV show. But ultimately, the studio seemingly passed on it. It's unclear if he pitched the series together with Berlanti as part of the Arrowverse or as a separate disconnected project.

Outside of the Arrowverse, the Legion of Doom has yet to be formed in other live-action projects. But with the DC Universe set to go in a new direction, that may be the team's time to shine. Once the DCU begins introducing more villains, it is more than possible that James Gunn and Peter Safran will have a variation of the Legion of Doom. It will also be an opportunity for the DCU to tackle something new, as the other films haven't introduced the Legion of Doom.

What's Next For The Arrowverse As far as the Arrowverse goes, the franchise is getting closer to its end. The Flash season 9 is officially set to wrap up the Grant Gustin-starring drama when it premieres on February 8. It is also currently the last remaining Earth-Prime-based series in the Arrowverse. While not set on the same Earth, Superman & Lois is still part of the Arrowverse through their shared multiverse.
