The Amherst man accused of driving drunk and hitting a 65-year-old woman and her dog, was arraigned in Lorain County Court of Common Pleas Thursday.
LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio - The Amherst man accused of driving drunk and hitting a 65-year-old woman and her dog, was arraigned in Lorain County Court of Common Pleas Thursday. Amherst police said the woman, Jessica Paige , suffered serious injuries and her dog was killed.
In court Thursday, Judge Melissa Kobasher appointed an attorney for Bankston and assigned the case to Judge Christopher Rothgery, scheduling his next hearing for Feb. 25. “We felt this gentleman has multiple offenses, a couple OVIs, he’s driven under suspension,” said Paige’s brother, Bill Podomnik. “We’re hoping other families don’t have to go through this.”“We just thought it was important for Jess to have that little bit of peace of mind that Ishe’s life mattered,” explained Toni Jones of Friends of Lorain County Dog Kennel.The crash happened at 3:06 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2025 near the intersection of Rome Beauty Drive and North Quarry Road. Officers said Bankston was driving northbound on North Quarry when he struck Paige and her dog, who were walking along the roadway.
