Jewish synagogues across Utah were forced to evacuate Sunday morning while pro-Palestinian rallies were held following the deadly Hamas attack in Israel.

“We were on heightened alert,” Rabbi Sam Spector said. “I am not sure if it was directly from that, but it seems more than coincidental.” The Rabbi said due to the level of antisemitism they deal with regularly, Salt Lake City police were already there.“We stay vigilant against antisemitism, but also dedicated to the work we are doing, and we are not going to let them stop us from Judaism and from continuing to make the world a better place,” Rabbi Spector said.
“We’re just heading the call,” Munaomar, organizer for Palestinian justice rights, said. “it’s a nationwide and worldwide call to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”
