During a routine patrol at around 7.30pm officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Church Street near St Andrew's Court. The car then smashed into the police vehicle.

Armed police were seen swarming the streets of a Lanarkshire town after officers were reportedly threatened by a man with a 'bladed weapon' yesterday, March 27.

A man is then reported to have appeared from the car and threatened officers with a 'bladed weapon' before fleeing the scene. This prompted a major police response. Footage from the scene on social media shows a helicopter flying overhead as well as a large number of emergency vehicles in the area. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A police presence remains in the St Andrew’s Court area of Blantyre following an earlier incident.
