Officials with the National Weather Service's Phoenix office say dry and warm conditions will continue in the Phoenix area.However, forecasters also say there is a chance for rain across the Desert Southwest later on in the week.NWS forecasters say temperatures in the lower desert should reach the upper 70s during the afternoon hours, while higher terrain will see highs in the lower 70s.
Forecasters say a storm system impacting the West Coast during the middle to latter part of the week could result in "favorable desert rain and mountain snow across the Southwest United States.""Total forecast rainfall amounts for the period range from less than 0.1" in the Yuma area, 0.3-0.5" in the Phoenix area, to 0.75-1.00" over the higher terrain northeast and east of Phoenix," NWS officials wrote, citing preliminary forecasts.
