Arizona State men's basketball opened its season Monday with a 62-59 win over Tarleton State.
Guard Frankie Collins was the energizer for ASU’s slow offensive effort in the first half. Collins had 10 points in the first half and finished with 21 points. Collins knocked down two-straight 3s and then set off ASU on a 12-0 run over three minutes during the first half.
Devan Cambridge delivered a massive block on Tarleton State guard Javontae Hopkins and ended fast break opportunity at 11:13 in the second half. “I think the biggest positive was our ability late in the game to create some turnovers and at the end of the game, find a way to win,” ASU head coach Bobby Hurley said.
