Arizona State allowed 571 yards and 50 points in Saturday's loss to UCLA. The Bruins didn't pass in the game's final 25 minutes.
That’s perhaps the most frustrating part of Saturday night for ASU. They knew what was coming, and they knew it was coming without the injured Zach Charbonnet, UCLA’s starting running back and the Pac-12’s leading rusher. Yet they couldn’t stop it.
The Sun Devils couldn’t get it. There was an unsportsmanlike conduct on Khoury Bethley, a mistake that Henderson likened to a pitcher giving up a walk in the late innings of a baseball game. But there were also seven run plays for 59 yards and a game-sealing touchdown, the final bludgeoning of a defense on life support.“When you’re a good football team, I can see the back of your jersey,” Henderson said. “I can see your name on the back of your jersey when you’re up front.
“They’ll be in four wides a lot, spread you out, throw the ball around,” Henderson said. “ wanted to act like they were gonna throw it, is actually gonna throw it. This is what they do. They throw the ball around.”
