A winter storm is bringing snow, wind, and cold temperatures to Arizona. Light snow showers are expected in northern areas, with up to 6 inches possible on the San Francisco Peaks. Gusty winds will reach 30-40 mph in northern Arizona and 25-35 mph in the Valley. A Freeze Watch is in effect for areas south/east of Phoenix as temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s.

Our first winter storm of 2025 is moving through Arizona. The storm will bring gusty winds, scattered rain/snow showers, and cold temperatures to the state.Through Tuesday night, on and off light snow showers are possible in areas like the San Francisco Peaks, Mogollon Rim, and White Mountains. Into Wednesday morning and afternoon, the moisture will slide south and east.The White Mountains may see lingering snow showers throughout the day, again spotty and light.

Snow totals are forecast to be low, with 1-2\u2019 possible in Flagstaff, 4-6\u2019 atop the San Francisco Peaks, and up to 1\u2019 for spots like Pinetop and Heber. The tops of the White Mountains may pick up a couple of inches, too.Gusty winds will increase as the storm system passes over the state and last through Wednesday. Gusts are forecast to reach 30-40 mph in northern Arizona.In the Valley, winds will increase Tuesday evening through Wednesday with peak gusts between 25-35 mph. The strongest winds over the White Mountains will reach 20-30 mph over the next couple of days.There is a Wind Advisory in place along western Arizona near Mohave and La Paz counties. The advisory is in place until 5pm Wednesday for Mohave County and until 11am Wednesday for western La Paz. Gusts may exceed 40-50 mph in the advisory zones.The forecast high drops to 66 in Phoenix on Wednesday and 64 on Thursday and Friday. Highs in the middle 60s continue into the weekend. Overnight lows plummet in the days to come.A Freeze Watch is in place for Pinal County and areas south/east for Wednesday and Thursday nights. In Phoenix, low temperatures fall into the low 40s beginning Thursday morning.By the weekend, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is expected to slip into the upper 30s with some temperatures around freezing for the outskirts of the Valley like Buckeye and Queen Creek.Following the storm system's passage, cool air will dominate the forecast through the weeken
