The Mat-Su Valley will see best chance for rain across Southcentral Thursday evening|ANCHORAGE, Alaska - With the arrival today of the last full month of summer, the overall outlook is favoring warmer weather. While most of July was spent under rainy skies, August is set to pave the way for several days of sunshine. With that being said, many areas of the state will start this month off with rain in the forecast.
As the rain tapers off, cloud coverage will persist through the day Friday, with sunshine and warmth returning into the weekend. Sunday may be the best day over the next week, as highs could easily warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s.Light rain showers are tapering off this morning, with drier, sunnier and warmer weather set to make a return. By the afternoon hours, some peeks of sunshine will begin to build into Southeast.
Rainy weather will be the trend through at least the first half of Saturday, before a summer weather pattern builds back into the Interior. Enjoy highs in the 60s the next few days before the upper 70s and lower 80s look to return early next week.Areas of the Slope will likely see some wintry mix into the night, as temperatures drop near freezing. Prior to that transition, some light rain can be expected. Highs today for the Slope will be topping out in the 30s and 40s.
