San Antonio will experience a drastic temperature drop this weekend with an arctic blast expected to bring freezing temperatures by Sunday morning. The MLK march on Monday will start with temperatures near 30 degrees and wind chills in the upper teens to lower 20s. A light wintry mix is possible late Monday into Tuesday, potentially impacting roadways.

This week will end with mild conditions across South Texas as afternoon highs Friday climb into the upper 60s to lower 70s. However, a big change is on the way this weekend as an arctic blast moves into the country and a strong cold front reaches our area by Saturday evening. Saturday will remain pleasant during the day with highs in the 60s, but temperatures will fall quickly Saturday night and much of the area is set to see a freeze by Sunday morning.

The cold will continue into the upcoming week, as the MLK march in San Antonio will kick off at 10 am Monday with temperatures near 30, and wind chills in the upper teens to lower 20s. The march is expected to be dry, but moisture will be on the increase late Monday into Tuesday. We are expecting a light wintry mix to develop in the region, which may lead to problems on roadways Monday night and Tuesday. Mornings will be in the 20s through midweek, with afternoon highs only in the upper 30s. There is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the precipitation chances and potential impacts, so make sure to check back through the weekend for the latest forecasts as higher-resolution computer models will help to provide clarity on the upcoming conditions early next week
