Glasgow cabinet approval means the local authority can now progress to the detailed stage of development and access the next stage of funding, with the authority recently having appointed Atkins Realis as design contractor to lead work on the proposed preferred route. It means that planned A723 upgrade will now not go ahead in order that the funds can go towards the “vital” Airdrie link road and hospital access, with the rest of the £100m increase in costs over the past decade to be funded “from the current and future council strategic capital investment programme”.
