Pluribus might currently stand as Apple TV's hottest new release, but other notable titles are quietly thriving beneath the shadow of the breakout sci-fi series. One of them is Down Cemetery Road, a gripping murder-mystery thriller that channels True Detective vibes while bringing its own identity to the twisty genre.
The series debuted on Apple TV on October 29, 2025, and has since been a quiet chart mainstay. According to FlixPatrol data, the Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson–led drama has steadily ranked among the platform’s most-watched titles across multiple countries. It has consistently held the number-one spot in Laos and The Gambia, while also finding strong traction in its home market, the UK, where it currently sits as the fifth most-watched title, outperforming Idris Elba’s Hijack, sci-fi favorite Severance, and the recently canceled The Last Frontier. Down Cemetery Road shares striking similarities with Slow Horses. Both series are adapted from novels by acclaimed author Mick Herron. Adding to that connective tissue, Down Cemetery Road was created by Morwenna Banks, who previously wrote episodes of Slow Horses. The series wastes no time throwing Thompson’s Zoë Boehm and Wilson’s Sarah Trafford into a deadly military conspiracy. It all starts when Sarah witnesses a child survive an explosion in her neighborhood. Seeking answers, she hires private investigator Zoë, but what begins as a seemingly innocent search for the truth quickly turns dangerous, placing targets on their backs and dragging both women deeper into a conspiracy far larger and deadlier than either anticipated. 'Down Cemetery Road' Will Be Back With Season 2 Down Cemetery Road has earned strong critical praise, scoring 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Collider’s Tania Hussain calling it “deliciously twisted.” The series balances dark, suspenseful themes with a sharp dose of British humor and has been lauded for the chemistry and performances of its leads, with Hussain noting that “Wilson is phenomenal and one of those actors who can turn a breakdown into a masterclass in restraint.” Despite a lower audience score of 59%, the show’s streaming performance has remained strong, and Apple TV quickly renewed it for a second season just two days after the finale. Season 2 will adapt the next Mick Herron novel, The Last Voice You Hear, with Zoë Boehm investigating a woman’s suspicious death. Upon the renewal news, Thompson expressed excitement about returning:"The thought of working with the team again, with the wonderful Morwenna Banks in the writer’s seat and the indomitable Ruth Wilson, who is the best and most brilliant co-star any aging Dame could desire, is frankly far more than I feel I deserve. Zoë Boehm is a punkishly delicious avatar, and I can’t wait to pull on her knock-off Doc Martens again."
