Having your iPhone fixed just got easier
Apple has today announced a new repair program which will, the company says, offer customers additional options when it comes to some of the most common out-of-warranty iPhone repairs and means that for the first time it will expand access to genuine Apple parts to more businesses.
It means that stores previously excluded will be able to sign up – because they can do the repairs in a way that is encouraged by Apple. The same parts, tools, training, repair manuals and diagnostic tools that the authorized providers had will be available and there’s no cost to join, meaning it’s likely many more people will sign up.
“When a repair is needed, a customer should have confidence the repair is done right. We believe the safest and most reliable repair is one handled by a trained technician using genuine parts that have been properly engineered and rigorously tested.” The current AASP scheme will stay. Apple expects those companies currently a part of it to remain part of it. AASPs will get access to extra benefits, including the ability to do repairs that are part of a warranty, in addition to those that are outside of it.Well, much greater choice for customers, for a start. And the peace of mind that genuine Apple parts may be being used, which Apple says are essential for safe and reliable repairs.
