A sudden burst of water flooded six apartments in a building, leaving families displaced and belongings damaged. Residents described the scene as devastating, with several inches of water inundating their homes. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the affected families.
Baljinder Kaur, whose mother lives in the affected complex, described the scene as devastating. "I've never seen anything before like that," she said. "Water everywhere, water everywhere here."Kaur explained that several inches of water filled her mother's apartment, damaging her belongings. "My mom's clothes, my mom's couch, it's bad, everything even my mother's washing machine is bad," she said.
Luis Martinez, another resident, recounted the moment the flooding began. "It sounded just like a regular car crash," he said. "I looked out the window and my dog was barking. That's when I started to see the slow flooding and then it started to gush out." Martinez, who lives on the second floor, expressed relief that his apartment was not affected but shared concern for his neighbors. "A few of my neighbors are pretty close, so it sucks to see them start the year off like that," he said.The Red Cross is currently assisting five displaced families with resources and temporary housing.
