While expressing no opposition to the farmers' memorandum submission, Anwar emphasized the importance of choosing an appropriate time for the gathering. He urged the farmers to contact the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, instead and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.

Media reports said that over 1,000 padi farmers from across the country are expected to gather in Putrajaya tomorrow to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding that the base padi purchase price be raised to RM1,800 per tonne.
