MANILA, Philippines — The government’s task force in charge of the country’s fight against the coronavirus disease is looking at the possibility of placing some areas in Cebu province under a localized lockdown after recording a surge of COVID-19 cases in the province, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Wednesday.

“Ang tinitignan natin ay Cebu City at ibang lugar sa Cebu dahil for the last seven days tumataas ang kanilang numero at mabilis ang pagtaas,” Año, vice chair of the Inter-agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious, Disease said over Unang Balita when asked about areas being placed under localized lockdown.Año said National Task Force on the coronavirus disease chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr.
