Central Pennsylvania Animal Action will protest the Pennsylvania Farm Show on January 5th, 2025, citing the 'inherent cruelty of animal agriculture' and events featuring animals.
A local animal rights group is planning to protest the Pennsylvania Farm Show . From 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2025, Central Pennsylvania Animal Action will organize on the sidewalk by the Farm Show entrance on 2300 North Cameron Street. Protestors there will hold signs for Farm Show attendees to read as they enter the complex, according to the coalition.
In a news release, the coalition encouraged Farm Show attendees to stop and 'engage the protestors in constructive conversation about alternative entertainment activities'. The group said it will protest the 'the inherent cruelty of animal agriculture and the events held inside the Farm Show Complex,' referencing Farm Show features like the public births of calves, rodeos, celebrity milking contests, and judgings that eventually lead to the animals' slaughter. 'The animals are forced to attend the 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show, many spending their last days of life in unfamiliar surroundings, filled with loud noises and thousands of people. These animals are not seen as individuals, worthy of living their lives on their terms,' Central Pennsylvania Animal Action wrote in a news release. 'The inherent cruelty of animal agriculture is not an event worth celebrating in Pennsylvania or anywhere else.
