PHOENIX, ARIZONA - DECEMBER 21: A t-shirt reads "Trump 2028" during Turning Point USA's AmericaFest at the Phoenix Convention Center on December 20, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. The annual four day conference geared toward energizing and connecting conservative youth hosts some of the country's leading conservative politicians and activists.

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., on Wednesday announced his support for a constitutional amendment which would allow President Donald Trump to serve a third term in office. The representative justified his decision by acknowledging Trump’s actions in negotiating peace in the Middel East. This, he added, proves Trump deserves another term. “If this week proved anything, it’s that Donald Trump has earned a third term,” he wrote. “He outmaneuvered the neocon war hawks and exposed the pro-jihad left while prioritizing peace. Let’s be honest: he’s the greatest leader we’ve had in centuries. Let’s amend the 22nd Amendment and do our Republic a service.” The Constitution’s 22nd Amendment states “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” It was passed in 1951in response to former President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms in office. Trump is notably term limited, having served his first term in office from 2016 to 2020. Despite this, his website previously featured merchandise reading “Trump 2032.”“You know, we’re very popular,” Trump said in March. “And you know, a lot of people would like me to do that. But, I mean, I basically tell them, we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.” Trump will be 82 at the end of his second term. At the end of a hypothetical third term, he would be 86.Jackson Walker on X at @_jlwalker_ for the latest trending national news. Have a news tip? Send it to jacwalker@sbgtv.com.
