Trent Mierl , a recent graduate of Anderson High School, returned to his roots at the First Tee of Greater Austin this week. Mierl credits the program for not only teaching him the game of golf but also for providing a place to give back to the community.
Mierl's biggest win yet came last month when he claimed the top spot at the First Tee National Championship. "It's pretty special, especially to bring it back home to Austin and represent the First Tee of Greater Austin," Mierl said."It meant everything," Trevor said, highlighting First Tee's significance to their entire family.
The brothers' journey will continue next season as teammates on the University of Missouri golf team. Trent, an incoming freshman, will join Trevor as he enters his final season of college golf. "I think it's gonna be very special," Trent said about playing alongside his older brother. "We’ve grown up playing with and against each other in many junior tournaments growing up. He’s obviously made it to the SEC, made it to Mizzou, so it’s pretty cool to see us being able to do it together.
