during severe weather, Anchorage School District did not announce an official policy decision during the school board committee meetings Thursday.
The policy includes exceptions for accessibility and health aids requiring a device and outlines prohibited conduct such as using devices for cheating or viewing/sharing inappropriate material. It also states the contents of devices could be searched “to determine ownership, to identify emergency contacts, or upon reasonable suspicion that a school or district rule of the law has been violated.”
No final decisions were made regarding the Rightsizing amendment, as Thursday was a work day for the board. “What I got was, rather than the employee, I got an e-mail from the superintendent saying, ‘You have to go through me to meet with people.’” Higgins said while discussing Rightsizing that he’s seeking more information after visiting schools. “I’m asking them questions pertaining, it’s an interactive discussion. I do not view that that’s a limitation, and in this case, because it’s a right sizing question,” Higgins said.
