Crews used a ladder to reach the injured juvenile eagle and transport it for treatment
ANCHORAGE , Alaska - Anchorage firefighters helped rescue an injured juvenile bald eagle that was dangling from a tree late Friday afternoon, assisting a local wildlife rehabilitation group with equipment and manpower.
The Anchorage Fire Department said crews learned just after 4:30 p.m. that the young eagle was stuck and injured, and that the Bird Treatment & Learning Center needed a ladder to reach it. Firefighters responded and, working with Bird TLC staff, freed the bird and transported it for treatment. The department noted the rescue was also a tribute to retired Anchorage Fire Department Battalion Chief Gary Bullock, whom it said loved Alaska’s wild birds. Bullock served as a volunteer and board member of Bird TLC for more than 20 years, the department said.Sand Point teen found 3 days after going missing in lake ‘It was incredibly swift’: Why an Alaska family was removed to Mexico this week, one son sent to Tacoma ICE facility FridayEagle River family returns home after unexpected holdup in Mexico involving political violenceMusician performs under the aurora in Nenana — without gloves, in 17 degrees
