Anchorage election officials expect high voter turnout on Tuesday, election dayANCHORAGE, Alaska - Frontrunners in the Anchorage mayoral race and their supporters braved snowy streets Tuesday morning, waving signs and encouraging Anchorage residents to get out and vote.
“We are feeling really good, we’ve got a lot of momentum, a lot of support, a lot of people talking to us about how they are making their vote for my campaign,” Popp said. “And we are just very excited about the amount of enthusiasm that we are running into in the public for a nonpartisan mayor for the next election.”Suzanne LaFrance said campaign volunteers had been working hard in recent days, knocking on doors and making thousands of calls in the last few weeks.
“Getting to 45 plus 1, we are pretty confident we can get there if the voter turnout is high we will get there,” Bronson said. “If the voter turnout falls below some level it will be more difficult. We just need people to get out and vote.” “I have no idea, we’ll have to see,” he said. “In the last couple of weeks we’ve been having a lot of positive input from people calling up and people asking questions. People really wanting to be informed when they make their decision and I didn’t have anybody that called and said they weren’t going to vote for me at the end of our conversation.”
