Multiple mayoral campaign signs in Anchorage have been stricken with vandalism. Bill Popp, the Suzanne LaFrance team, and Mayor Dave Bronson’s reelection team all say they’ve had signs vandalized.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Popp said he has had only one sign that was vandalized, which he claims was found broken and smashed. LaFrance’s team claims it has lost 15 signs due to vandalism, including some that have been punched and torn in half. Bronson’s team claims it has had a total of 33 signs vandalized. The mayor says some of this signs have had the words “genocide” and “Free Palestine” scribbled on them.“Right now, it feels unfortunately similar to previous years,” Ira Slomski-Pritz said, an advisor to LaFrance.

Slomski-Pritz has worked on numerous other campaigns across the political spectrum. He says he has seen similar acts of vandalism in past election years, with signs for ballot measures and school board members going missing or being defaced. “Ballots are dropping, so a lot more people are paying attention right now. It’s not surprising to see some of this activity,” Slomski-Pritz said.

The Bronson campaign has taken action, filing a police report earlier this month with the Anchorage Police Department seeking damages and an investigation into the vandalism.Fairbanks man arrested for possessing over $1.5M in narcotics, stolen goods“Napalm Girl” Kim Phuc Phan Thi shares story of hope with Alaskans
