Zuma has been charged with bringing the ANC into disrepute by campaigning for another party while still an ANC member.
JOHANNESBURG - Despite former president Jacob Zuma’s disciplinary hearing with the African National Congress being held virtually on Tuesday, over a hundred uMkhonto weSizwe Party supporters gathered at Beyers Naude Square in the Johannesburg CBD to show support for their leader.
In May, the ANC cancelled Jacob Zuma’s physical hearing over fears there would be dangerous clashes between ANC and MK Party supporters.“There is no security threat. We are here as uMkhonto weSizwe and we have been in every different court disciplined as we are. There is no threat. “People must stop the narrative that uMkhonto weSizwe is ill-disciplined and a violent party. We are a democratic party and a disciplined movement.”
MK Party supporters have reiterated their leader's call to have the disciplinary hearing made public. There is also a heavy police presence in the vicinity.
