The Scottish Labour leader is open to talks with the Scottish Government, but he said the UK Government would not change its mind.
Anas Sarwar has refused to say if he pushed Labour Chancellor Rachel Reeves on her swingeing cuts to the Winter Fuel Payment for the elderly.
The benefit is now devolved to Holyrood and SNP Ministers have said they will have to pass on the cut by scaling back the payment. Asked by the Record if he wants Reeves to rethink the eligibility criteria for the WFP, he declined to say yes: He also said: “That decision’s already been made around the Winter Fuel Payment. I don’t get a sense there’s going to be a change.”
