NSTnation 'All the accused are summoned for causing MH17 to crash and the murder of 298 people.'
The names were clearly read out by prosecutor Dedy Woei-a-Tsoi when she was called by presiding judge Hendrik Steenhuis to present her case.
"In the opinion of prosecution services, a deadly weapon, a BUK TELAR missile transported to eastern Ukraine hit MH17. The deadly weapon was then returned. All the accused are summoned for causing MH17 to crash and the murder of 298 people." Expectedly, the four did not appear at the District Court of The Hague sitting at the JCS complex. They were tried in absentia after the court established that they had been served the writ of summons but were not present.
Three judges – Hendrik Steenhuis, Dagmar Koster and Heleene Kersten-Fockens – presided over the case, with two other judges acting in a reserve capacity.
