A new treasure hunt of sorts seeks to distribute wealth to those in need without implementing any gambling.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The chance to win three wishes from a magic lamp is officially coming to Alaska and the hunt for the lamp begins Sep. 1.
Since the odds of winning the lottery are low, one self-described visionary has been searching for a better way to distribute wealth. “I thought to myself a better model would be if 500 people won $1 million each,” said Dirk Gibson, the founder of Treasure Game$. “About six years ago I was working on an idea for a TV show because I have a television production company and that idea was, wouldn’t it be fun if people could find a magic genie lamp in real life and get three real wishes.
While the platform does require a subscription of $8.99 to win, Gibson hopes to one day see the subscription reduced or eliminated. “Eventually we’ll have sponsors paying for all of this and our subscription fees will go down,” he explained. “In fact, I’m hoping that we’re going to be the first global company where the founder announces our subscription fees are going down.”
