Mbongeni Gumede, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Tercious Malepe, George Maluleka, Guily Manziba and Gabadinho Mhango returned for Usuthu, with Elias Pelembe and Ruzaigh Gamildien called upon for Royal AM.
Usuthu enjoyed the brighter start following the earlier stages and watched Sede Dion tower high in the six-yard area before nodding well adrift the top corner of the net. After a slow opening half, the visitors went in front seven minutes from the resumption as Gamildien got on the end of Shaune Mogaila’s delivery and applied a stern finish.
The frustration for the host continued in the midway stage of the second period when Thembela Sikhakhane’s first-time drive from inside the area clipped the crossbar and flew over.
