The Natal Rich Boys had key striker Somila Ntsundwana back from suspension, while Stellies were unchanged from their last match against Swallows FC in the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup.
The Maroons bounced back after a pretty slow spell and broke the deadlock five minutes ahead of the break through a clever finish from Iqraam Rayners. Stellenbosch used their slender advantage to good effect and doubled their lead seven minutes from the resumption when Rayners finished off Junior Mendieta’s pass and bagged his brace.
However, the Maroons didn’t lose momentum despite the introductions of the aforementioned players and kept the intensity of the game at a decent level.
