Amazon announced 16,000 layoffs nationwide along with plans to cease operations at all Amazon Fresh and Go stores.

Amazon Fresh stores in Eatontown, Lodi, Paramus and Woodland Park will shut down as the company redirects its grocery business toward online delivery and Whole Foods Market expansion.
While the counties align with the four Amazon Fresh locations, it’s unclear if related distribution and warehouse operations are included in the layoffs. The company will continue testing new physical store concepts, such as a potential “supercenter” format designed for customers to shop its selection of fresh groceries, household essentials and general merchandise. In total, Amazon will close 72 of its grocery stores.
