Through the month of October there are numerous events going on where you can step up and help out.
SAN ANTONIO
– An estimated 6.5 million Americans age 65 and older are currently living with Alzheimer’s Disease. It is a big problem that families frequently face around the world, including around Texas and in Bexar County.Through the month of October, there are numerous events going on, where you can step up and help out.
“Our walk is October 15, it will be at Fiesta Texas again this year. This is our second year. Right now we’ve raised just over $250,000. Our goal is $850,000. So we’ve got a ways to go, but there’s still plenty of time for folks to register online,” Greg Sciuto, the executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association San Antonio and South Texas Chapter said.
The Beards versus Beans challenge is also returning for its fifth year as well. Matthew and his brother Miguel Martinez, turned a hatred over beans and a reluctancy to shave their beards into a huge fundraiser. To read more about it,“October 1, is a big day for us. We have Beards versus Beans, which is a couple of fundraising brothers for us that they compete every year to see who can raise the most. This year they’ll be at Burleson Yard Beer Garden on October 1.
