Alley Theatre's 'Torera,' Houston Grand Opera at Miler Outdoor top our picks
Four years ago, Robert Ellis went big with “Texas Piano Man,” both an album title and a sort of persona that allowed him to indulge some musical impulses as grand as his home state. The Lake Jackson native has more recently been based in the Fort Worth area, where he runs a studio and has recorded the new “Yesterday’s News,” which includes a title track that finds the singer and songwriter in a quieter mode. He returns to his old home with a handful of new songs to showcase.
