Thor has fought his fair share of villains in the MCU from Dark Elves to his own family members, and each villain came with their own strengths.

The only MCU character to have four solo movies so far, there is no shortage of Thor villains to analyze. The God of Thunder is an MCU icon who was an integral part of the original Avengers, fighting big bads like Ultron and Thanos alongside them. In his own time off of Midgard, he’s faced his fair share of villains who have put his Asgardian powers to the test.

Skurge was skilled in battle both with his weapons and in combat, seeing as he survived the Battle of Valheim as an Einherjar. Before he was ultimately killed by Hela’s Berserkers, he was able to fight off a few. The fight he put up on the final Rainbow Bridge battle was also a testament to Skurge’s Asgardian physiology, showing off his superhuman strength, stamina and reflexes.

7 Loki Since his introduction in Thor, Loki has arguably become the MCU’s most beloved villain. The adopted brother of Thor, Loki’s a complicated character as he’s more of an anti-hero. He starts off the MCU on his brother’s side, but he’s shown that he’s not afraid to betray those close to him for his own benefit. The Avengers was the first true show of Loki’s powers, such as the chilling scene where he commands the civilians in Stuttgart or the fact that he killed Phil Coulson.

5 The Destroyer The Destroyer was the machine that Odin initially used to stop Thor’s coronation, then what Loki sent to Earth to attempt to kill Thor. The human-like machine obeyed the ruler of Asgard who wielded Gungnir without question, and Odin had originally used it to guard his vault. Though the Destroyer itself is not inherently bad, its place as a villain depends on the user’s intentions.

Now referred to as Kurse, one of the powers he got from the Kurse Stone was heat generation. He was able to kill anything with a single touch by draining their life force, which he did to several Einherjars when escaping the prison in Thor: The Dark World. Becoming a Kursed also meant that his existing superhuman abilities were intensified greatly, which can be seen in how he deflected hits from Mjolnir. This made Kurse one of the most physically powerful beings in the Nine Realms.

2 Hela If Thor and Loki’s family dynamic wasn’t complicated enough, Thor: Ragnarok introduced their sister Hela. The Goddess of Death and Odin’s firstborn, she was imprisoned by her father and was only released after his death. Hela instantly showed off her power just seconds into her MCU debut, easily catching and destroying Mjolnir with her bare hands.
