The number of Chicagoans swimming in open water is growing. More people competing in triathlons or distance swims are turning to the lake to train. And many more — including the Friday morning jumpers — are discovering the joys of swimming in our incredible lake not just during the summer but also year-round.Our thinking about water safety has not kept up.
