The Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida, a mild-hybrid version of the popular hatch, has been launched in the UK. It offers a blend of petrol and electric power, delivering improved performance and fuel efficiency.
The Alfa Romeo Junior hybrid, known as the Junior Ibrida , has been launched in the UK with a starting price of £27,895. Unlike its fully electric counterpart, the Junior Elettrica, the Ibrida adopts a mild-hybrid system shared with other models within the Stellantis group, including the Citroën C4, Fiat 600, and Vauxhall Corsa. The Junior Ibrida combines a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that incorporates a 28bhp electric motor.
This powertrain delivers up to 134bhp and 170lb ft of torque to the front wheels, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 8.9 seconds, a tenth quicker than the entry-level electric model. This performance gain is likely attributed to the Ibrida's lighter weight of 1230kg, compared to the 1485kg of the Elettrica.Fuel economy and CO2 emissions are officially rated at 58.8mpg and 109g/km. Visually, the Ibrida differentiates itself with a wire-style grille featuring the classic Alfa Romeo badge, instead of the flat plastic grille found on the EV. Inside, the Ibrida boasts black and blue cloth seats, ambient LED lighting, and two 10.25-inch display screens - one for instrumentation and the other for infotainment. Optional packages include the Sport Pack (£4100) which adds Sabelt bucket seats trimmed in Alcantara, aluminium pedals, and tinted rear windows. The Premium Pack (£2000) offers leather seats with adjustable lumbar support, heating, and massage functions. Deliveries of the Junior Ibrida are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2023, between April and June
