“I thought she could be just a little bit more precise with the final ball,” USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski said. “But her positioning, getting the ball in between the lines, being able to turn and run at the backline is what made us dangerous.” The second half was a more open game as both teams got up and down the field. That led to a more dangerous Brazil attack but also left them open at the back.
“This tournament is always good to play,” said Swanson, who was named 2023 SheBelieves Cup MVP. “There’s really good teams, some of the top teams in the world. It’s always a good test for us and it’s a good experience to have, especially before a World Cup.”In addition to giving the United States its sixth SheBelieves Cup, the win continued an overall successful trend for the national team in Texas. Wednesday’s contest was the USWNT’s 31st ever match in Texas. The team has won all 31 games.
