Alaska is bracing for a stormy weekend with multiple weather systems impacting the state. While Southcentral and Southeast Alaska see some calm on Friday, Anchorage experiences cloudy conditions. A storm system moving through Western Alaska is lifting north, but another weather system is brewing over the Aleutians, bringing gusty winds. Winter weather advisories will expire on Saturday, but a new area of low pressure from the south will bring more wet weather along coastlines and a chance of snow by Sunday. Anchorage could see 1-3 inches of snow.
ANCHORAGE , Alaska (KTUU) - Some calm is being seen across Southcentral and Southeast Alaska Friday, but Anchorage was dealing with cloudy cover while it was sunny skies around the Panhandle. The first storm system moving through Western Alaska is lifting north, but it is not the only player over the weekend. Another weather system will be a second disturbance over the Aleutians. Winds will be gusty for many areas near that storm.
Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings will expire over the day on Saturday. As that happens, a new area of low pressure will be moving in from the south, with more wet weather along coastlines, and by Sunday, there is a chance for snow. The weekend promises to be a stormy one over the west coast. A chance of snow rolls into Anchorage by Sunday, some 1-3 inches is expected.
