ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The high pressure system that has dominated Alaska's weather for the past week is starting to weaken, paving the way for a shift in weather patterns. Southcentral Alaska will see the consistent clear skies give way to mostly cloudy conditions by the end of the week. There is a possibility of rain and snow along the north Gulf Coast.
Clouds are expected to drift into the Interior at least briefly over the weekend, with temperatures anticipated to rise slightly around Fairbanks, reaching near 20 degrees.A High Wind Warning remains in effect for the Yukon Delta Coast and Lower Yukon areas until noon on Tuesday, with wind gusts out of the east potentially reaching 60 mph. A Winter Storm Watch is in place for the Central and Eastern Beaufort Sea Coasts from Wednesday afternoon until Friday evening. This watch is issued in anticipation of blizzard-like conditions with wind gusts as high as 55 mph. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, dropping it to a quarter of a mile or less
