By Sunday, the sunrise will be 8:37 AM with the sunset around 7:44 PM. Vernal Equinox, or Spring Equinox, commences on March 20th, marking the start to the astronomical spring season. By March 20th, most of the state will reach nearly 12 hours and 30 minutes of daylength, with more and more daylight in each passing day.‘Like a jet blasted you in the face’: 85 mph Arctic storm winds trap 150 people at Alaska basketball tournamentSullivan: Alaska experiencing largest military buildup since WWII amid rising Arctic threatsMajor traffic jam on Glenn Highway as snow falls
