Canned goods, coffee, tea, condiments, international foods and other unexpired nonperishable foods as well as diapers, baby wipes and small paper goods will help the Alameda Food Bank serve the more than 1,000 families who turn to them each week for help.California Assemblymember Mia Bonta, D-Alameda, presented 16 community awards at an Oct. 27 celebration in Emeryville to recognize nonprofits and individuals in her Assembly District 18 for exceptional public service.

Other Alameda recognitions included: Alameda Family Services ; the Buena Vista Methodist Church ; the Alameda July 4 Parade AND the Village of Love . And what’s a festival without a great bar? Fiesta Alameda will feature hometown Building 43 Winery serving their delicious wines, craft brews from Latino-owned Del Cielo Brewery, Micheladas courtesy of Modelo and CA Draft Tech, and margaritas and more mixed with award-winning tequilas Olmeca Altos and Código 1530.

This event is sponsored by Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste with support from the city of Alameda and StopWaste, a public agency whose mission is to reduce waste in Alameda County.FirstLight Home Care will open a new Alameda location in December that will be owned and operated by Nicole Freeman. The business will deliver companion care and personal care services to seniors, veterans, people recovering from illness, injury, surgery and those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
