Snow is again in the forecast for Alabama next week, but this time it's south Alabama that could get the most. Above is a forecast for snow on Tuesday. The National Weather Service cautioned that the forecast continues to evolve and the above amounts will likely change over the next few days. Dangerously cold temperatures will affect the entire state from Sunday night through most of next week.
Hazardous or impossible travel will be a concern, especially for south Alabama, starting on Tuesday and potentially lasting a day or two. But even areas that get only a little precipitation could have travel issues because of the very cold temperatures.An extreme cold watch has been issued for south Alabama, and there will likely be more cold weather advisories coming for other parts of the state in the coming days.
Here are the forecast low temperatures from Sunday night into Monday morning:Monday will not provide much relief from the cold, with highs only expected in the 20s in north Alabama, the low to mid-30s in central Alabama and the 40s in south Alabama.Another bitterly cold night is forecast for Monday night into Tuesday morning, with more wind chills in the single digits and teens expected across the state.
Computer model forecasts for the Mobile area on Saturday ranged from 2 inches to as much as 5 inches.
