Mayor Graham Smith said choosing not to record the meetings is not about lack of transparency and that the choice was always up to the “discretion of the council.” “Should there be any kind of contentious, large issue, or something where the population would need to really have access, and maybe we wouldn’t have the capacity for them, that we would allow those meetings to be on YouTube again,” Smith said. Smith said that a “number of technical issues” is what ultimately led the council to no longer record their meetings, which areShe said leading up to the change, the council had tried different methods to record the meetings, to no avail. “Procedurally it didn’t continue to make sense to record the meetings. We had a lot of technical problems. We tried Zoom. We tried YouTube.
