S. 280. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Morgan Lakesha Hawkins. She was 27 and lived in Birmingham.Rocky Ridge Fire District Chief Jon Lord said the car was traveling westbound when it lost control and hit the median guardrail on the passenger’s side. The impact trapped both occupants inside the car and pushed the guardrail into two of the eastbound lanes, shutting down that portion of the roadway for hours.The driver, whose identity has not been released, was taken to UAB Hospital with significant injuries, Lord said.
