Nelson Becton, 42, will be eligible for parole after serving 21 years, county Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said. Becton was convicted by a jury last week of murder, felonious assault, having a weapon under disability, and tampering with evidence.
During the fight, Chevez Lewis, 30, punched Anthony Becton, Nelson’s cousin, while Anthony was sitting in a vehicle. Anthony Becton started to drive away and ran over Nautiara Mack, 26, prosecutors say. Lewis pleaded guilty last week to felonious assault and having a weapon under disability. Lewis also was found guilty of being a repeat offender. He was sentenced to 16 to 20 years in prison.
