FastCast digital headlines for the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024
The Anchorage School District held a remote learning day Tuesday after Anchorage’s first significant snowfall of the season. Moving forward, ASD spokesperson Corey Allen Young said parents can expect remote learning days when the weather is poor.
What a difference 48 hours can make. Just two days ago fall was in effect, but now we are walking in a winter wonderland. With a big storm and heavy snow hitting Southcentral, the Anchorage School District opted for a remote learning day. Alaska’s News Source hit all the best sledding spots in hopes of seeing some folks engaged in winter fun, but it looks like the sleds are still hanging in garages municipality wide. While at Kincaid Park, we did notice quite a few cross country skiers.
Alaskans across the western portion of the state felt the brunt of an early winter storm that hit the coast. As flooding hit some communities, viewers sent in photos of their homes and the aftermath of the storm. Jackie Purcell shares some of the images that were seen in communities like Kotzebue, Scammon Bay, and Numam Iqua.
Snow blanketing the Anchorage area over the past 24 hours has led to school delays, closures and remote learning for districts across the state.
