After the storm, SoCal families flock to mountains for sledding, snowball fights and other winter fun

WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. -- The recent Southern California storms have brought a delightful layer of powder to the mountains, where families have flocked in recent days not just for skiing, but sledding, snowball fights and other winter fun.

Up in Wrightwood, where most roads were clear enough to get through without too much difficulty, children were sledding down local hillsides, building snowmen and throwing snowballs. Some families even brought their outdoor cooking gear. While the roads to Wrightwood were navigable, Highway 138 heading up to the Crestline area was a mess, even for drivers who planned in advance with chains on their tires.

CHP advised people that wherever they are driving, come prepared with chains and plan to proceed with caution.
